Brexit and political developments in the UK dominated European media for several months. Suddenly, the outbreak of the Coronavirus changed priorities: the pandemic and its multiple consequences topped the news agenda, and UK political developments, including Brexit, remained in the shadow. At one point, both the EU top negotiator Michel Barnier and the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson were infected. Is Brexit still on the agenda? Has the Labour party recovered after selecting a new leader? Is there a political consensus on the post-pandemic period?
Eunice Goes, professor of politics at Richmond, The American International University in London. She specialises in British party politics, British political thought and Britain’s relationship with Europe and European politics.
