Elvedin Nezirović is a writer, poet, and essayist, born on November 12, 1976, in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He has published three collections of poetry, a collection of short stories, four novels, and a book of essays.
He has received numerous literary awards, including the Balkan literary award “Predrag Matvejević” (Zagreb, Croatia, 2022) for his novel Ono o čemu se ne može govoriti. His novel Ništa lakše od umiranja received the “Stevan Sremac” Award (Niš, Serbia, 2021).
In 2023, he received the City of Mostar’s Fourteenth February Award
in recognition of his sustained creative work and public engagement,
which have established him as a prominent advocate for a better, more
inclusive Mostar and a leading voice in the city’s contemporary
anti-fascist movement. In 2017, he received the “Builder of Peace” (Mimar mira)
Award from the Center for Peace and Multiethnic Cooperation in Mostar
for his overall contribution to peacebuilding, coexistence, and
interethnic trust in the post-war period.
His other awards include the “Musa Ćazim Ćatić” Award for best poem
(Odžak, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2015), the “Esad Eso Sadiković” Award
for best short story (Prijedor, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2013), the
Laguna Publishing House Award for best short story (Belgrade, Serbia,
2011), and the “Zija Dizdarević” Award for best short story (Fojnica,
Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2009).
From 2011 to 2019, he served as director of the Pavarotti Music
Center in Mostar, where he continues to work as an expert associate for
programs and public relations.
He is a member of the P.E.N. Center of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
