Iveta Radičová is a professor of sociology at the Bratislava International School of Liberal Arts and Dean of Media Faculty at the Paneuropean University in Bratislava. Prior to the positions as Slovakia’s Prime Minister (2010-2012) and Minister of Defence (2011-2012), she was a member of the Slovak National Parliament and served as Minister of Labor, Social Affairs, and Family (2005-2006).
Radičová began her political career in 1990 as a member of the Public Against Violence movement, serving as a spokesperson of the party until 1992.
In 1992, she founded the non-profit Social Policy Analysis Centre, which she led until being appointed director of the Institute of Sociology of the Slovak Academy of Science in 2005.
Radičová has had numerous international academic engagements: Oxford University, Saint Anthony College; Umea University, Sweden; IWM, Vienna, Austria; New School for Social Research, Fulbright Fellow, New York, USA; senior fellow Oxford University, Saint Anthony College, and Richard von Weizsäcker fellow, Robert Bosch Academy, Germany.
She is a member of Club de Madrid and Council of Global Women Leaders. Radičová has been awarded numerous international distinctions: on several occasions she was listed as woman of the year.
She received her Ph.D. and professor in sociology degrees from the Comenius University in Bratislava.
