Péter Magyari was born in Budapest in 1977, where he still lives today. He began his journalism career in 1999 and has written continuously about politics ever since. Over the last twenty-five years, he has interviewed practically everyone who matters in Hungary. He is regarded as a respected and popular analyst in his home country, and is a regular expert guest on Hungarian radio, TV and online programmes.

In 2010, he received the “Investigative Journalist of the Year” award for a series of articles exposing the political dimensions of the Russian–Ukrainian–Hungarian gas trade. In 2020, the National Hungarian Press Association awarded him the Hungarian Press Prize in recognition of his lifetime achievement. Since 2003, he has also regularly taught at universities and in other journalism training programmes. Since 2023, he has been working for the conservative-liberal news site Válasz Online.
