Background
Parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held in the Czech Republic on 3 and 4 October 2025. Current opinion polls indicate that controversial businessman, and former Prime Minister (2017-2021), Andrej Babiš may win the elections and form a (coalition) government.
What are the most important electoral promises? Are any major internal and external policy changes expected? Some candidates, to give an example, promise to reduce aid for Ukrainian refugees and question the Czech commitment to increasing military spending, as decided in Brussels. Several Czech parties are Eurosceptic.
Kateřina Šafaříková will explore the elections from Czech and the European perspective.
