Andy Kaltenbrunner, PhD, political scientist, is co-founder and managing director of Medienhaus Wien. He worked 20 years as a political journalist and editor for newspapers, magazines and new digital media (e.g. the political weekly “profil”) . Since 2000 he is working internationally as a media-advisor, -researcher and –developer.
He gained ample experience as a lecturer, e.g. in the universities of Vienna and Klagenfurt, the Poynter Institute, the Akademie für Publizistik Hamburg and many more. He was the founding director of the ) executive MA-programme „International Media Innovation Management“ (IMIM) at the Berlin University for Professional Studies (DUW/Steinbeis Hochschule). Since 2011 he collaborates as an honorary professor at the Universidad Miguel Hernández in Elche/Spain, since 2016 as a visiting professor at the Sommerhochschule of the University of Vienna in Strobl/Salzburg.
Kaltenbrunner initiated Vienna´s first academic journalism-programme „Journalismus und Medienmanagement“ at the University of Applied Sciences (FHW) in 2003 and the programme „Film-, TV und Medienproduktion“ (FH des BFI) in 2011.
Since 2017 he is the director of the research-project „Journalism in Transition“ at the Institute for Comparative Media and Communication Studies (CMC) at the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
