Anton Shekhovtsov is an external Lecturer teaching East European history and politics at the University of Vienna (Austria), and founder of the Centre for Democratic Integrity (Austria).
His research interests include European radical-right wing parties, illiberal trends in Central and Eastern Europe, Russian subversive influence in Europe, and politically biased international election observation.
Shekhovtsov’s most recent monograph Russia and the Western Far Right: Tango Noir explored historical and contemporary relations between Western right-wing illiberal politicians, ideologues, movements, and organisations, on the one hand, and Russian state and non-state actors, on the other.
Shekhovtsov edits the book series “Explorations of the Far Right” at ibidem-Verlag (Germany), and is also a member of the editorial board of the Open Access e-journal Fascism: Journal of Comparative Fascist Studies.
He received his education in Sevastopol, Ukraine (MPhil in Politics) and London, UK (PhD in Slavonic and East European Studies).
