Irina Gordienko (38, Moscow)
Since 2002 and until present day Irina has been the special correspondent for Novaya Gazeta. She covered revolutions, coups, popular uprisings and civil protests in the former Soviet republics: Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia.
Lately, she has been interested in political and civil conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa.
In 2014-2015 she was a fellow of the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard and studied the history of the Middle East and Islamic radicalization, as well as the new media at MIT.
