Stefan Plöchinger is the Editor in chief of sueddeutsche.de, the news website of Germany’s quality newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung.
Recently he has been nominated as one of the chief editors of the newspaper, responsible for the online content. Previously Mr. Plöchinger worked as a managing editor for Spiegel Online as well as in different positions at Financial Times Deutschland and the Bavarian Abendzeitung.
He started his career as a local reporter for Süddeutsche Zeitung. The SZ, published in Munich, is the largest German national subscription daily newspaper. It is read throughout Germany by 1.1 million readers daily and boasts a relatively high circulation abroad. The editorial stance of the newspaper is liberal and generally of centre-left.
